Goodbye (For Now)

So.

It took me a lot of thinking and deliberation about whether I really wanted to do this, but I've decided to leave the Lishogi community, at least for now. I won't be deleting my account in case I want to come back someday (which is very likely), but I'm just not gonna be active around here anymore.

So, why am I doing this?
1. The player pools aren't really active around here. I've had times where I made a lobby game waited for well over 20 minutes, and no one came. Obviously, I'm not going to want to wait on a lobby for 20 minutes when I could do something else. I get that this is a byproduct of the smallness (is that a word?) of this community, but still.
2. This is actually a topic of frequent discussion around here, but I just don't' like the puzzles. I've seen puzzles where the "correct" solution was to throw away all your pieces for mate when another (better) solution existed that also delivered mate (I think even faster) and even puzzles where the correct solution gave you a rook while it was possible to make the opponent. This really ticks me off because I'm losing points for outsmarting the creator of the puzzles. I guess if puzzles weren't rated I wouldn't mind, but they are rated, so that's that I guess.
3. My summer vacation (I'm a high schooler) is coming up, and I'm just kind of not motivated to play shogi these days, With me planning on getting Geometry Dash in the summer plus my book that I'm working on, I find myself unable to make time for shogi. Maybe this is the "bad time management" thing that my geo teacher's been giving me an earful about, and I hope I can fix this problem in the future, maybe when i've matured a little more.
4. And finally, this is the most petty reason, but I basically lose all my games. I've been having severe "rating anxiety" after watching my ranking drop from 1-Kyu to 3-Kyu to my current rank of 8-Kyu, and I really don't have that much fun losing to everyone. Sure, it's fun if you win sometimes and lose other times, but losing 20-something games in a row is just depressing.

Course, if I ever change my mind, I'm just going to hop back on the site and maybe write a message in this forum. To everyone who chooses to stay on this site, good luck, and may we meet again sometime in the future!

All very valid reasons. A high schooler should pursue the things which are fun for them, because your youth will never come back and you need to evaluate the activities you spend your time at very wisely, lest you become a regretful adult. Maybe, when you'll eventually come back, the site will have matured alsongside with you, ha ha! I certainly hope so. :)

Goodbye, friendo!

So...

I'm back.

There's something that I didn't mention in the initial post (I meant to, but I forgot): my initial plan was to play on 81dojo.com (since it has larger player pools) until I was good enough to win my games, and then come back. However, I played on 81dojo for a bit, and there were some things that I couldn't get used to/didn't like (I might post on that later), so I just returned.

In other news, I found a way to make time for shogi (by sacrificing like half an hour of grinding BotW to play shogi), so yay ^^

So, I came back a bit earlier than expected, but whatever I guess

If anyone wants to play me, feel free to send me a challenge :3

Glad to see you back! I restricted myself to one game at a time; I might challenge you in the future though. 🙂

I tried several times to create an account at 81dojo but I never got the activation email. I'm curious to know what was you didn't like out there.

You can't post in the forums yet. Play some games!
