Understanding This Puzzle

I don't understand why the solution is what it is. Does the attacker have a brinkmate?
Or is the complete and utter destruction of the enemy's castle enough?
I am sure I am missing something.

After Nx89+ , the king is forced to take the promoted knight, then G*88 Kx88 S*77 And now wherever the king moves it’s mate in one.

how do you know which on it is and the solution (solution should e easy ti tell but how the puzzle?)
