One thing I did come up with.
If the UI is going to be like lichess, for example, it might be possible to display a number on the lobby tab that indicates how many manual game seeks there are in the lobby.
I think the most ideal way would be to display both the automatic pairing button and the manual game seeks at the same time, as you suggest.
