How do you play?

Hello, welcome! You can learn the piece movements in the "Learn -> Shogi Basics" on the top tab of the main screen. The goal is the same as chess, checkmating the opponent king!

The difference of Shogi and Chess is pieces come back to life to the board. You can capture enemy pieces and deploy them to the battlefield on your turn as a move. You can only drop pieces on legal squares on the board, for example you cannot drop pawns to the last rank, as they do not have any legal moves, or a knight in the second last/last rank for the same reason. You cannot have two pawns in the same file, dropping a pawn on a file that has a pawn will result in a illegal move loss immediately in OTB and 81Dojo.

In Shogi, you make your own castle manually with two Gold Generals and one silver General, and you activate your Rook, Bishop, Silver, Knight and pawns to attack and break your opponent's castle! You can check out this study for basic castle structures and their pros and cons. lishogi.org/study/O591ZfdK

I keep losing by something called impasse(try rule), when ai gets to the last rank. When I do that, I don't win. There is nothing of this rule in the learn. Any help?
