What about Kyoto shogi, guys? Minishogi / 5五将棋 are good, but very boring.
I think Kyoto shogi could be played like Fischer random chess. So the random setup makes gaining an advantage through the memorization of openings impracticable; players instead must rely more on their skill and creativity over the board.
