My name is Kotaro, and I am from Japan.
I am a bright, friendly, and talkative person who enjoys communicating with students. I speak three languages(English, Spanish, Japanese) and love connecting with people from different countries and backgrounds.

I have been playing Shogi since I was 7 years old — for nearly 20 years.
During my student years, I was a member of the Shoreikai (Japan’s professional Shogi training system) and reached 3-kyu.

Online achievements:
7-dan on 81Dojo
7-dan on Shogi Wars

I have strong competitive experience and a solid understanding of practical Shogi.

I have been teaching Shogi since my student years.
Recently, I have been actively teaching international students and enjoy helping
players from different backgrounds improve their skills.

I am especially good at helping kyu-level players reach shodan (1-dan) by strengthening their fundamentals and overall understanding of the game.

Of course, I also support dan-level players who want to further refine their skills and reach the next level.
During my student years, I worked as an instructor at children’s Shogi classes and also visited schools to teach Shogi.

I specialize in helping kyu-level players progress to shodan by teaching:

How to build solid castles (defensive formations)
How to think clearly in different types of positions
How to create a strategic plan
Fundamental decision-making principles

My specialty openings are:
Ranging Rook (Furibisha)
Double Ranging Rook (Ai-Furibisha)

I can also teach Static Rook (Ibisha) upon request.

Lessons are conducted online using 81Dojo.
Sessions include live gameplay, detailed analysis, and personalized feedback tailored to your level and goals.
