Pieces in hand are hidden

Beginner here and just curious for opinion on, and whether or not a variant exists, where pieces in hand are hidden from the opponent. It would be possible to deduce but wouldn't it introduce another element of fun to have a gold drop in when you'd not calculated the opponent had one ?! Would it make it more realistic to not see what the other side had captured ?! Would hiding what is deductible just confuse the game unnecessarily?

I think that hiding the pieces in hand it's not a bad idea. However, there is already a way to play blindfolded or seeing the pieces' position but not what they are, so I believe it would be pointless to add that "hidden hand pieces" setting.

Maybe it's a better idea to directly make a mode where you must play blindfolded or just with the pieces shape by force.
