I'm new to shogi and the site, and firstly I just want to say that, what the Tutorial section (Shogi Basics) covers, is really well done, but it's missing some very important stuff I believe.
- It teaches that the king is the most important piece, but I don't believe it tells me for instance that I have to respond to checks or that checkmate is the ultimate goal. I can infer this from playing chess before, but there are some chess variants where the king gets captured so I think that should be mentioned (unless I missed it).
- It should really include something about piece drops, given that this is a huge mechanic of the game. I think I only knew about it because a friend told me when mentioning they'd being playing it.
It'd probably be good if players looking to learn shogi, learned all the rules here and then went on to play here, as opposed going elsewhere to find more complete intros and then (hopefully) coming back.
Anyway, I hope the site takes off. It seems really cool.
