In this design of the figures, it is impossible to distinguish the white from the black king. This makes it difficult to perceive. Remove the dash from the white king. Thanks!
Improvement: Pice set - semple kanji

I don't see any problem with the pieces. 玉 doesn't look the same upside down.
With the simple kanji piece set the King is just a reflection of the opponents King.
Whereas with other piece sets, the King is different from the opponents King. Here’s an example.
It's not a reflection, it's a 180 degree rotation like every other piece. There is no problem here?
Unlike the other pieces, the king pieces are not supposed to be reflections / rotations of each other.
They are different kanji that just happen to look really similar.
玉 - the black king piece has a little dot in the bottom right.
王 - the white king does not have that dot
While in physical sets there are two different kanji (which incidentally, do not distinguish between the sides, but the *players*), online there is another de facto standard with both sides using the 玉 piece.
For physical sets, 王 is used by handicap giver in handicap games. In even games, 王 is used by the more senior player (in terms of some function of rank/age/etc), regardless of whether they move first or second.
Since this social calculus is quite impossible to replicate online, for simplicity the other standard of using two 玉 has emerged online.
All other Pice sets have this king difference. Semple kanji has not. What's the point of arguing with the obvious? Semple kanji resembles a book version of the image of figures. In books, there is always a difference of kings. This is more informative (it is easy to understand who is white and who is black when the grid is not visible). Let's do what's best?
I have "中原の将棋教室" (Nakahara's Shogi Classroom) in front of me right now, and the Kings are both 玉 in the diagrams.
Same for "Joseki at a Glance".
Also "四間飛車上達法".
So no, in books the kings are not always different either. It's also an acceptable standard at this point.
Looking at the .svg files though, the 0OU.svg and 1OU.svg seem to be the wrong character. So if anyone knows how to fiddle around with those, that's what needs to be changed.
So the dot in 玉 should either be removed for all piece sets or kept for all piece sets. Basically it needs to be uniform IMO.
