Since this site is a fork of Lichess, I can only view it compared to Lichess. Lichess has a different sound for checks for a reason; why don't we? Lichess has time control categories for a reason; why don't we? At the end of the day, these are minor quality-of-life things, but we used to have them, and our sister site has them, so why don't we anymore?
I personally don't think we have to be beholden to the way lichess does things. This is a different game with a different community, and I agree that the playerbase here is not large enough to support separate rankings for the time controls.
Lishogi had a slow and rocky start, but now it finally feels like an established and respectable place among the other Shogi servers. More than two years ago, when I first learned about Lishogi, it seemed half-abandoned and on its last leg (sorry for my words, but that's how it looked like), and compare that to the lively and engaging atmosphere this site exudes nowadays. It's easy to forget how far Lishogi has come since its humble beginnings.

I would disagree with you right now, but even if I wouldn't, what about when it does get enough players?
