it'd be nice to have a setting when creating a tournament to make it unlisted, i.e. not have it appear on the front page and in the "open tournaments" list. i would like to make tournaments just for among friends without broadcasting it to the whole site.
I created a tournament just for fun one day, and even though it was theoretically possible to publically find it, it was almost impossible to do so, i.e. you couldn't have learned of its existence just by randomly scrolling. That's just the sort of mess the Lishogi tournament page is, a badly neglected part of this otherwise wonderful site. The lesson from this story is: Every tournament you create here which doesn't gather a huge load of people will go almost unnoticed in any case.
i was running one earlier and it was showing on the main page. i had to turn away two people who tried to join (sorry!)
Really? Okay then, I guess my information isn't relevant to everybody. Still, you can create private tournaments which one can only join by knowing the right password. On the tournament creation page you have to expand the 'Entry Conditions' tab and voila, there you got all the tools you need to only address the right crowd of people.
You can't post in the forums yet. Play some games!
