Thanks for your hard work! Playing tournaments and pro mode will be fun, and against Checkshogi engines as well! Hopefully translation will prove quite useful too!
I have crazy thoughts about auto-promotion (pawn, bishop, and rook; or all pieces) which are sure to confuse everyone else... function like Lichess (hold Ctrl to unpromote). Not a high priority, but someday it could be fun for power users.
I was going to jokingly ask if anyone wanted to help translate Lishogi into Latin (I helped with Lichess' Latin translation, but I'd need to learn even more to be useful for Lishogi) however Crowdin doesn't show Latin as an option yet.
About "underpromote" mentioned in comments... that's not the correct word.
In chess, underpromotion refers to a lower promotion than a queen.
In shogi, unpromotion refers to moving without promotion. Maybe we need a better word.
Actually, depending on the options, YaneuraOu can generate non-promoted moves like Bishops (which are usually inferior to promoted moves). github.com/yaneurao/YaneuraOu/wiki/%E6%80%9D%E8%80%83%E3%82%A8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%AA%E3%83%97%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3#generatealllegalmoves (This is disabled by default to speed up search.)
However, if the puzzle were to be re-verified now, it might take a significant amount of time.
@Toadofsky The alternatives are basically "unpromote" and "declines promotion." The former implies that something stops being promoted and the latter is a mouthful haha.
@Wanderer Thanks for your hard work for improving the Lishogi site!
But when can we publish personal blogs and have a blog center page?
Any chance for open handicap challenges?
