Are you playing Chaturanga?

It seems that chaturanga is the oldest form of chess game: apparently all known versions of chess come from it. This makes it very interesting.

People who think that modern versions of a game are obviously improvements of its ancestors are probably wrong. 😉

The languages you and me speak daily (French and German) are originally from India, too, along with hundreds of others, all part of the Indo-European language tree. Many of our fruits and vegetables which are now cultivated worldwide were first found in india, too, which all suggests that everyone living from Iceland to Pakistan can make the truthful claim to have Indian ancestry. It's also home to the world's oldest religions and nowadays also to the world's largest population.

But Shogi is still better than Chaturanga, ha ha! :)

I did try a bit of chaturanga after hearing about it for the first time here, and I thought it was good enough.

But this is a shogi site, so I'm going to ask out of curiosity: has anyone played hasami shogi? (also let's not drift off topic about chaturanga I'm just interested to see if people are familiar with hasami shogi.)

You can't post in the forums yet. Play some games!
