Sorry, 12 December not good for me @MalMalMal
Swiss Classical Tournament #3 - Round 5 - Board 7: MalMalMal vs Aniteg
@aniteg, please propose other variants and show that you are ready to compromise if necessary.
You live in Finland. As far as I checked, it refers to UTC+2. So 16 UTC refers to 18:00 of your local time. Are you really sure it's the only latest time you can do?
I made my resumption game this round at 20:00 of my local time, which is not the best time for me, but acceptable, and I did it.
Please write all combinations of all days that are acceptable to you (not just one proposed day like 11th Dec), and for each of them, please write the latest comfortable time and also the latest acceptable time for starting the game.
Why should I compromise? My opponent didn't visit the website for a week, then wrote to me about the time and disappeared again for 4 days, and now I don't have time to play.
I will resign I don't wish to cause any animosity. My problems with being busy irl my apologies.
@Aniteg, the tournament gathers players from all across the world and different timezones. That implies that we are expected to reasonably adjust our schedule considering specific situations with timezone differences. Hence, it means that it's both players to adjust, to compromise.
From your side, honestly speaking, it was a lack of communication too. You didn't specify your initial schedule boundaries, nor specific days, and, what is more important, times that were suitable for you.
If you read the rules, you can find that it is required to offer ASAP "at least 3 different times/day combinations."
In your case, you only said "when you want to play?" and "this is too late for me" with no constructive direction of negotiation.
Even the finally followed (on my request, note) suggestion of "November 11 at 15 or 16 UTC" only covers 2 combinations out of 3 required.
And it doesn't really give the other side much of a choice, no other suggestion on a weekend or any other day.
The final game result is decided by the main referee @DoubleD91, and he will probably grant you a fair autowin. But the situation is very controversial.
@MalMalMal is the one who failed his tournament duties to a greater extent.
But as I mentioned, you did your communication poorly, too. You didn't clearly mention your limitations on your schedule, like "I can't do it from 12 December to 15 December". You didn't mention your appropriate times that make it possible to start with something.
This is the very basics of the whole schedule negotiation process. I honestly hope that you learn from it, and do not take it as a criticism, because that's more important if you'll be able to negotiate your schedules in further tournaments properly and efficiently.
This will help our little Chu Shogi community to play their tournament games smoothly and without similar drama.
I agree about the situation being controversial.
However, it seems that Aniteg did a bit better in regards of tournament duties. I'd give him the full point by forfeit, if that's ok with you @AlexTrick , otherwise we may talk about this privately. There's no more time to play beside tomorrow, though.
@DoubleD91 I agree with that decision
