Swiss classical tournament #2 - Rules

-Time control: 60'+30"

-Swiss system, 5 rounds;

-Playoff criteria: Direct Encounter, Buchholz, Buchholz Cut1;

-Adjourned games MUST be completed within the following week; therefore, every round will last 2 weeks.

-2 hours of game is the minimum time required before adjourning, with at least move 150 being reached. In order to ensure the organizers know the exact time the game started, players should write on Discord that the game has started or, as an alternative, write down the exact time in the appropriate thread dedicated to the pair for that round.

-Any adjournment offer must be accepted, of course if the above criteria have been met, otherwise the player can refuse to adjourn and just keep playing. To make things easier to manage, adjournments are limited to a single one x game.
Adjourned games MUST be completed within the following week; therefore, every round will last 2 weeks. Prorogation might be allowed in particular cases at the arbiter's discretion.

-At the beginning of the round, players are requested to write down their preferred time to play, in an appropriate thread on this forum created for each pair, offering at least 3 different times/day combinations. Please, do it as soon as possible to avoid delays. In case both player absolutely CAN' T play in that week for some reason, they will have to complete the game the following week; they might adjourn the game as well, but it must end within the second week of the round to avoid any unnecessary delay.

The full calendar will be:

Round 1 07/24 - 07/31, 00:00 UTC- second week 07/31 - 08/07, 00:00 UTC;
Round 2 08/07 - 08/14, 00:00 UTC- second week 08/14 - 08/21, 00:00 UTC;
Round 3 08/14 - 08/21 - 08/28, 00:00 UTC- second week 08/28 - 09/04, 00:00 UTC;

Round 5 09/18 - 09/25, 00:00 UTC- second week 09/25 - 10/02, 00:00 UTC.

Further rules:

-Unfinished games are considered not played, therefore that's a forfeit lose. Who gets the forfeit lose, is decided by activity and punctuality of the player. If both make bad duties to their tournament obligation, both are forfeited.

-Players cannot offer a draw at any time. If for some reason a draw is offered, the other player HAVE to decline it.

Registration will be closed on Monday, 22th of July at 00:00 UTC. Pairings for the first round will be published on the same day. As stated above, each round will have 1 forum thread per pair, where they will state their preferences of times and day of playing.

-Time control: 60'+30"

-Swiss system, 5 rounds;

-Playoff criteria: Direct Encounter, Buchholz, Buchholz Cut1;

-Each round consist of 2 weeks: the first week is intended for the starting the game, and the second is for completing the adjourned game.

-2 hours of game is the minimum time required before adjourning, with at least move 150 being reached. In order to ensure the organizers know the exact time the game started, players must write down the exact time the game started in the appropriate forum thread dedicated to the pair for that round.

In case both player absolutely CAN'T play in that week for some reason, they may at an arbiter's consent start their game in the following week. In that case, if approved by a referee, players must schedule two times of play at once: the first is for the game to start, and the second is for the adjourned game (in case it will be adjourned). If any of the two players refuse to schedule the second date/time, no adjournments are allowed in the started game in the second week.

- All times should be written in UTC format (no local timezones abbreviations like CET, EST please). Players are responsible for correctly converting their local timezones to the UTC. If a player miscalculated the scheduled time in UTC and got late/absent on it, that player is at fault and is considered late/absent, so please always double-check the time and take into account possible daylight switches.

Further rules:

-Unfinished games are considered not played, therefore that's a forfeit lose. Who gets the forfeit lose, is decided by activity and punctuality of the player. If both make bad duties to their tournament obligation, both are forfeited.

-Maximum allowed time for being late to the scheduled game is 30 minutes. In case your opponent is being late for more than 30 minutes, you are no longer obligated to wait for your opponent. In that case please report about the absent opponent in the designated forum thread for your pairing in the round. Also please make evidence (screenshots) of your opponent being absent with your local time displayed, to provide on request.

-Players cannot offer a draw at any time. If for some reason a draw is offered, the other player HAVE to decline it.
Also, no unreasonable artificial draw via position repetition is allowed. If one has happened, the arbiter can on his own decide the game violated the sports ethics and in that case, both players are forfeited.

As a reference, repetition rules have been reasonably depicted by @dax00 as such:

As stated above, each round will have 1 forum thread per pair, where they will state their preferences of times and day of playing. To avoid too much of a mess on this "generic" forum, we will use the Chu Shogi WC forum for the pairing threads .
