I'm getting a {"variant": [Error]} message when I select play-with-the-computer Chushogi or anything other than standard, minishogi or kyoto shogi.
The default enginge cannot play each variant so far.
Chu Shogi must be played against a human. Play against Computer is not available.
Yeah unfortunately lishogi has not yet implemented a default bot for Chu Shogi.
If I remember correctly, it's because some of the more popular Chu Shogi engines (like HaChu) available were programmed with slightly different rulesets (there's a couple of different historic rulesets for Chu Shogi, mostly around the lion capture moves), as well as different move formatting.... or something like that. And there's not really enough people who are both good programmers AND interested in Chu Shogi to work on it.
I'm sure these things will be implemented in the future.
Why couldn't fairy-stockfish do it?
Fairy stockfish can not handle a 12x12 board. Fairy also can not handle the double moves of the lion.
