The strength gap between these two is insane, IMO lv5 should be less strong than it is
Can dev adjust the parameters? Or is yaneoura that good ?(eveen after adjustments)
Yaneoura lv5 makes no mistakes compared to lv4 fs
I think that the difficulty gap between YaneuraOu and fairy stockfish is something that couldn't be adjusted. After all, stockfish is an engine created mainly for chess (as far as I know) so despite it been able to play shogi, it will never be as good as YaneuraOu, which is an engine built specifically for shogi. However, I don't know much about this kind of things, so maybe there's a way to solve that (maybe adding more intermediate levels?).
Couldn't we have YaneuraOu level 1, 2, 3 and 4?
Well I know it's not a real fix but if you want to play games that are between the difficulty of stockfish lv4 and yanneuraou lv5 mabye try to play games from a position so you have allready given up some pieces before the game starts and pick stockfish lv4. (And yes the down side is that it is not functioning like a normal player versus player game anymore because some pieces aren't present).
Level 5 has the behavoir to stronger overt he course of the game

In my last game the engine sees a rook gold trade and says its is 1.6 good for me but 5 moves later in the string it sees a froced 19 move mate
@ladyontheshogiboard If I remember correctly lishogi USED to use YaneuraOu 1, 2, 3, and 4, but people didn't like it because lv 1 was pathetically weak and lv 3 or 4 was like a high-intermediate level and would destroy most players here. The gap was SUPER sudden and people were constantly bringing it up.
Finding a good CPU difficulty curve has been a long-time problem here. I know that there are homemade bots on this site though, but they aren't the default and you have to go out of your way to find them.
Actually it seems I was wrong. The only community bot I see online is @kawasemi. I thought there were more.
If I ever get around to finishing my shogi engine, I'll release it here as well.
