right solution ignored in excersise

lishogi.org/training/fDHTr

R 14 and g 24 are mate in 2. This time even the same lenght than the "right moves"
So i lost points instead of getting points
I will not do anymore exercises until i get my rightfull points

No, they are not. You didn't notice the promoted Rook at 29 as @mashiro_chan mentioned.

This happens a lot to me too, not seeing the whole board... 🤭

Using the engine is very useful in case of doubt. 🙂

Neither R*14 nor G-24 are mate.
R*14 doesn't mate because any follow-up check is protected by the dragon on 29.
G-24 doesn't even make sense, you literally just throw away a gold for nothing; it's not even protected. Even IF the dragon were not on 29 it would not be mate.

After you finish or fail a puzzle, the engine analysis button appears in the upper right. If you truly and honestly think that the given solution for a puzzle is wrong or you can't figure it out, turn on the engine and prove it.
Rarely, but sometimes, the puzzle IS wrong. In which case then sure, make a post here. But 99% of the time, that is not the case.

And finally, what do you mean "rightful points"? I swear, this is like the 5th time this year that you've come on here to complain about the rating system.
Go ahead and not play puzzles if that's what you want to do. Nobody can stop you from playing or not playing rated games or puzzles or anything. But I can ASSURE you that DOING the puzzles and PLAYING the games, win or lose, rated or unrated, will improve your play (AND the rating you are so worried about) 1000x more than coming into the forums with this righteous indignation and demanding your rating be artificially raised to your own imaginary standards.

Fine I will give up on exercise ifif it doesnt help with shogi skills at all

❝Fine I will give up on exercise ifif it doesnt help with shogi skills at all❞
They do help with shogi skills, jog your brain, make you figure out what are your strengths and weaknesses, acquire automatisms, etc.
To avoid the pressure linked to the rating system you can play them offline. 👍
I don't even understand why solving problems is rated. 🤔

That's it! If the Puzzles were unrated, a casual exercise, I wouldn't have a problem with them, too!

Some puzzles ARE unfair, and it's endlessly frustrating when you happen to choose the 'wrong' way to a certain victory and you get points deducted which you have to make up for now with two NEW solved puzzles. It makes no sense. Definitely the weakest part of lishogi, and I say that with a heavy heart.

i don't like the puzzles because i find that the "rational" moves are often ignored (i.e. i had to sac my rook once when it would make more sense to capture the bishop without saccing it)

also i find that at this point guessing is more effective at solving puzzles than actually thinking because of how it works

❝also i find that at this point guessing is more effective at solving puzzles than actually thinking because of how it works❞
I've often felt the same. Some problems don't seem to actually make sense. 🤔

@loliconchess
What are you talking about? Nobody said that they don't help with shogi skills. I literally said the opposite of that.

@Mining4GldNSlvr
The puzzles are rated so that they track your approximate(!!!) skill level. It's a waste of time to give mate-in-1 puzzles to a master player, and would be just as much a waste to give mate-in-9 puzzles to a beginner. I'm going to heavily disagree with you that they are unfair. Unintuitive, maybe. But that's not the same as unfair. Very often in shogi, the correct move looks unintuitive at first, at least coming from a Chess background.

Just guessing solutions, ESPECIALLY if you don't follow up with analysis, will not improve your play. Especially if you are "Not thinking". I HIGHLY advise you guys (and everybody else who reads this) to do the same as what I wrote above. If you get a puzzle wrong, and you REALLY do think your variation makes more sense, turn on the engine and prove it. You can move the pieces around on the board and everything.
I understand what you're saying, and I've had those moments myself where I was certain that my sequence seemed to "make more sense", but I was humbled by the engine analysis *literally* every single time.

If you want to be able to turn off puzzle rating, like on lichess, then you'll have to put in a request to the devs. Or go on github and code it yourself.

But the ENTIRE point of puzzles is to improve your game, your vision of the board, your understanding, and your calculation. NOT to get points. Your points WILL go up and down. They WILL deviate day-to-day. You just have to deal with it. If I'm on a diet to lose 10kg, I'm not going to stand on the scale and measure myself 10 times a day. Ratings don't perfectly, accurately measure your exact playing skill in real time, and no realistic rating system could ever do that. Look up "Goodhart's law". Just play the puzzles, play the game, have fun, and you'll improve over time.
